NCC Code of Practice for PE

All School Sports Partnership SSCos recently attended training based around the Northamptonshire County Council's code of practice for PE.

Led by Peter Whitlam, co-author of the 'Safe Practice in Pysical Education and School Sport' - the afPE (association for Physical Education) national guide for schools across the country and also attended by Gilliam Harrison (County PE Advisor), Duncan Tucker (PDM), Jamie Leeson (Assistant PDM) and Adam Scott (Competition Manager), the training centered around;

  • Risk Assessment in School Sport
  • Risk Management Considerations for Centrally Organised Sports Events
  • Best Practice Guidance on the Effective use of Individual and Agency Coaches in Physical Education and School Sport
  • Summary of Responsibilities when a School employs or contracts with an Agency

Duncan Tucker, Partnership Development Manager commented that; "the training was highly informative" noting that the models and forms were "very user friendly and non-threatening."

All of the course content is available below to download, complete with a sample risk assessment form.  Further information is available at www.afpe.org.uk.  Schools are encouraged to download the resources and adapt them to suit their schools needs.
