School Sport Coordinator
The School Sport Coordinator (SSCo) role is an essential cog in the School Sport Partnership wheel. A School Sport Coordinator is "an existing secondary school teacher (QTS) released from teaching for 2 days per week who will divide their time between the secondary school and cluster (family) primary schools to coordinate and develop school sport opportunities and community sport pathways." For a detailed background into the SSCo roles and responsibilities read more here.
The South Northants and Daventry SSP has eleven secondary schools and 14 SSCos - 2 schools share the SSCo role between two members of staff. Although all SSCos are employed by the SSP for two days per week (one day each in schools where the role is shared), these days are, for some, spread over the week in shorter periods of time.
Meetings are held with SSCos every two weeks. Led by the Partnership Development Manager (PDM), Assistant PDM and Competition Manager (CM), the meetings are key in providing national and local updates, information on upcoming festivals, tournaments and fixtures and for feedback from the SSCos. The minutes of all SSCo meetings are available here.
